A Gala to Remember

The Celebration of Education Gala is one of CCEF's biggest events, and each year it is highly anticipated. After months of planning, working out logistics, and looking for donors, the night arrived, and we could not be happier with the outcome of this event. Our hearts were as full as the room was and the culmination of this event left us feeling so grateful for our community and all you do for the Cherokee County School District.

CCEF Hosts Gala at Northside Hospital Cherokee

We are proud to announce that we had 400 people in attendance and raised over $120,000!

Everyone was dressed to the nines in tuxedos and formal dresses, enjoying time with friends, colleagues, and others who are just as passionate about CCSD. While everyone was dressed in their best, we were sure to feature some fun games, prizes, and raffles. Whether our guests were bidding at the silent auction, participating in our "wingspan raffle", or playing heads or tails for the chance to win a year's worth of Chick-fil-A, fun was had by all.

"There was such an outpouring of generosity at the Gala. We're very fortunate that the community is so supportive and willing to give of their time and hard-earned money to help the school district. The Foundation had a very successful evening!" said CCEF board member, Arlene Dickerson-Lavelle.

We had quite the group of musicians featured throughout the evening including Andre Clark, Ethan Senger, Kurt Lee Wheeler and students from the high schools of Creekview, Etowah, Woodstock, Sequoyah, River Ridge, and Cherokee. Between performances and student speakers, we presented awards to:

  • Rebecca Johnston - CCSD Alumna of the Year
  • Steve Stancil - CCSD Alumnus of the Year
  • Barry Dalton (Hasty Fine Arts Academy) - Teacher of the Year
  • Colleen DeLosh (Indian Knoll Elementary School) - Counselor of the Year
  • Ann Nechvatal (Cherokee High School) - Media Specialist of the Year

After an evening full of joy, emotions, and laughter, Lisa-Marie ended the night with a call for donors to give in honor of someone that has impacted public education. With this call, people all over the room stood for the opportunity to donate in the name of someone they know, love, and feel deserves to be recognized for their contribution to public schools.

Without you, none of this would have been possible. We would like to give a huge shout out to our high school volunteers from Sequoyah High School for helping the event run smoothly from set up to clearing tables. Lastly, we would like to thank Northside Hospital Cherokee for being our presenting sponsor!
